Nelson and Pade, Inc.® has designed the MicroFARM
…a perfect way for beginners to get started
in a profitable aquaponics venture.

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) is so supportive of aquaponics, they specifically list it as one of the sustainable methods that they will provide Micro Loan funding on.

From the FSA website:The USDA FSA has a MicroLoan program to meets the needs of small, beginning farmer, niche and non-traditional farm operations, such as truck farms, farms participating in direct marketing and sales such as farmers’ markets, CSA’s (Community Supported Agriculture), restaurants and grocery stores, or those using hydroponic, aquaponic, organic and vertical growing methods.”

Labor requirements*: Approximately 2—4 hours per day (not including managing employees, office hours, marketing or delivery). The net profit shown below assumes you will do this labor and not hire it done.

Estimated Annual Net Income*: $21,000— $26,000 (after all business expenses, assuming you will do all the labor and not pay an employee) based on selling 100% retail at $3.95/plant. Requirements for owner to achieve this: proper business management and marketing; proper environmental control; following our SOP’s, manuals and recommendations; willingness to work full days as an entrepreneur. The 1st year net will be from $0 on up, depending on timing of construction and installation of the aquaponic growing system.
