Russ Feingold tours Nelson and Pade, Inc.®
MONTELLO, WI. -Russ Feingold smelled something fishy.
The vague smells of tilapia swimming in 500-gallon tanks — and of the fish droppings, which serve as nutrients for plants grown without soil or chemicals — filled the air Friday at Nelson and Pade Inc., a Montello business that was one of Feingold’s stops on his tour of businesses and industries in all 72 Wisconsin counties.
Feingold, a Middleton Democrat, is running to regain the U.S. Senate seat he lost in 2010 to Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wisconsin.
One key component of his campaign, Feingold said, is to visit at least one local business or industry in each of Wisconsin’s 72 counties. His stop Friday at Nelson and Pade in Marquette County marked the 26th county where he had visited a local company; the same day, he’d been to Princeton Audio in Green Lake County.
Feingold said home-grown enterprises like Nelson and Pade are the key to the prosperity of Wisconsin’s working people.
