Nelson and Pade, Inc., Montello, WI, a company offering aquaponic systems, training and consulting, is seeking a motivated individual to fill a position working in our aquaponic greenhouse.
In aquaponics, we raise fish and vegetables in a soilless, recirculating system without the use of pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilizers. We demonstrate this in our 5,000 sq. ft. aquaponic greenhouse, which provides fresh vegetables and fish to our staff and community. We have 8,000 sq. ft. of shop space where we assemble systems that we sell and we have a comfortable and casual office in which the sales and daily business takes place. Our Team-oriented approach to business includes weekly staff meetings to promote cohesiveness in sales, systems, processes and client interactions. Our client base is global and in the past few years we have hosted people from 36 countries and 49 US states in our aquaponics training classes in Montello, WI.
Job Description:
The person filling this position will operate Nelson and Pade, Inc.’s 5,000 sq. ft. demonstration greenhouse in Montello, WI. Tasks will include: seeding, transplanting, cleaning, harvesting and packaging of lettuce, greens and other vegetables, delivering produce to local customers, feeding fish, record keeping, system and filter maintenance, guiding greenhouse tours and, eventually, assisting in information transfer and teaching in Nelson and Pade, Inc.’s training and education programs.
The Nelson and Pade, Inc. management will provide guidance and training on all phases of the aquaponic greenhouse operation and greenhouse environmental control.
Requirements and Skills:
- A friendly demeanor and a joy of learning and sharing information
- Hardworking, dedicated, self-motivated, positive attitude
- Have a degree or hands-on experience in horticulture, botany, biology, aquaculture, education or similar field. Experience in aquaponics is a plus!
- Be willing and able to take and follow instructions
- Be tidy and have the ability to recognize when things need to be cleaned
- Enjoy working in a greenhouse environment
