Wisconsin Aquaculture Day

On Saturday July 21 the Wisconsin Aquaculture Association is hosting Wisconsin Aquaculture Day. Nelson and Pade, Inc., along with 5 other fish farms in the state, will help to celebrate Wisconsin Aquaculture Day on July 21, explaining the importance of locally grown, fresh, safe fish and offering tours and demonstrations on raising and feeding fish, samples and recipes, free of charge to the public.
Nelson and Pade, Inc., specializes in aquaponics and controlled environment agriculture. Aquaponics is an eco-efficient method of growing fish and plants together in one system using constantly cleaned and recycled water in place of soil. Nelson & Pade has a 5,000 sq. ft. demonstration greenhouse, where lettuce, tomato plants and tilapia are grown. They offer aquaponic systems and growing supplies, training and workshops, consulting, information on aquaponics.
On Saturday, there will be tours at 9am, 10am and 11am, each about ½ hour, at no charge, along with information on aquaponics and controlled environment agriculture. Tilapia fillets (frozen), fresh lettuce, veggies and herbs will be available for sale.
