About the Authors
Rebecca L. Nelson and John S. Pade
cumulatively have over 40 years experience in the hydroponics,
aquaponics and controlled environment agriculture industries.
They believe that aquaponics is a real-world, practical,
sustainable and achievable method of feeding people and they
work to promote and implement this technology daily through
their publishing and consulting. Rebecca and John are poised to
be a part of the reinvention of agriculture for the 21st
century.
Prior
to the writing of this book, they owned and operated a
commercial-sized hydroponic and aquaponic greenhouse; produced
and published videos, instructional materials, books, school
curriculums and websites on aquaponics, hydroponics and
aquaculture; designed and developed a diverse mix of aquaponic
systems; have been invited to speak at conferences on soilless
culture in several countries; consulted on numerous projects
around the world; and have continually published the Aquaponics
Journal, a quarterly publication on aquaponics, since 1997.
Entrepreneurs
at heart, past business ventures include running a Caribbean
summer camp for teens, training of scuba divers and submarine
pilots, installation of computer cabling for stock brokerages,
video production and gold mining.
This book is a
culmination of years of work in aquaponics. Growing, writing,
consulting, publishing, researching and studying aquaponics
technology has been a part of their daily lives since the mid
1990’s.
Rebecca and
John are pleased to offer this book, which they believe presents
the most up to date and complete information on aquaponics.
